More than one visit
Trees don’t drop everything at once. On Long Island, most leaves come down from late October to late November, and oaks hang on even longer. We come back several times through the fall so the lawn never stays buried.
Beds and corners too
Leaves blow into beds, under shrubs and along fences. We clear those spots too. A thin layer can stay in the beds as mulch, but thick piles against the house or on top of small plants come out.

When there’s only a light layer, running the mower over the leaves chops them into small bits that fall into the grass and break down over winter. That feeds the soil. When the layer is thick, the mower can’t keep up, and the leaves have to come off.
Keep leaves out of the street
Leaves blown into the road wash into the storm drains. When those drains clog, the corner floods the next time it rains. Some villages collect leaves at the curb on set days. Others want them bagged. We follow the rules on your street.

Leaf season means blowers, so town rules matter. In East Williston, gas leaf blowers can’t be used on Saturdays from May 1 to October 31. After that, normal work hours apply.
- East Williston: landscaping work Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No Sundays or holidays. Gas leaf blowers are banned on Saturdays from May 1 to October 31.
- Garden City: landscapers need a village license. Work hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Mineola: landscapers need a village permit. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
- Bethpage, Plainview and Hicksville (Town of Oyster Bay): Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. No Sundays.
- Albertson, Roslyn Heights and Carle Place (Town of North Hempstead): Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No Sundays or holidays.

What do I do if leaves sat on my lawn all winter?
Rake them off as soon as the snow is gone. If you see gray or pink matted patches, that’s snow mold. Rake the patches lightly so they dry out. Most lawns grow back once it warms up. Bare spots can be overseeded.
