What to check before tree removal
- Is it yours? Trees between the sidewalk and the curb often belong to the village.
- Do you need a permit? Some villages require one. In Mineola, you usually do.
- Any wires? If branches are near power lines, it’s a job for PSEG Long Island or a line-clearance arborist.
- How big is it? If it’s tall enough to hit the house, it’s arborist work.
Is removal the only option?
Not always. A tree that’s crowding the roof may just need trimming. A tree with a few dead branches may have years left. We’ll tell you honestly.
