People call and say, “The yard just looks tired.” It usually doesn’t need a total redo. It needs a plan: what stays, what goes and what gets planted.
It starts with a walk
We walk the yard with you. We look at where the sun hits and when, where water sits after a rain, where the kids play and where the snow gets piled in winter. Then we ask how much time you want to spend on the yard each week. A plan that needs hours of weeding won’t work for someone who wants to be done in ten minutes.
What a plan covers
Beds and their shapes, shrubs and trees, lawn areas, edging and mulch. Every plant on the list comes with its full-grown size, so nothing ends up covering a window or pushing into the walk in five years.

What we think about first
Sun and shade
Big old oaks and maples shade a lot of yards here. Plants that want full sun won’t bloom in the shade, and shade plants burn out by the driveway. We match the plant to the spot.
Drainage
Water should run away from the house. If the yard puddles or water runs toward the foundation, we fix the grade before planting anything.
Full-grown size
That cute little evergreen at the garden center might be 30 feet tall in 15 years. We plan for how big each plant gets, not how big it is on day one.
Winter
Snow has to go somewhere. We keep delicate shrubs away from the spots where you pile snow and pick salt-tolerant plants for the strip by the driveway.

If your plan includes taking down a tree, check your village rules first.
- Mineola: taking down a tree usually needs a village permit. Street trees, the ones between the sidewalk and the curb, belong to the village, and owners can’t remove them.
- Power lines: branches touching or near wires are a job for PSEG Long Island, not a landscaper. Call them for anything tangled in a line.
- Other towns: check your town or village tree rules before anything big comes down. We’ll help you figure out who to call.

What do I do if my foundation shrubs are covering the windows?
Some shrubs, like yew and privet, can be cut back hard and will grow back fuller. Others, like old junipers and arborvitae, won’t. In that case it’s usually better to take them out and plant something that stays the right size.

Yes. The same crew that draws up the plan plants it, and we can take care of it after with regular garden maintenance.
